First let me start by saying that I’m very grateful to have been able to come on this trip. Turks and Caicos wasn’t on my radar of places (not to say I never would’ve come) but I definitely wouldn’t have had the accomodations in which I’ve had which was outstanding and superb so for that I’m grateful (thank you Auntie Cheryl and her friend Tom). As previously mentioned I’ve been tracking Hurricane Erin and I had a very strong feeling last night as I checked the weather for today that today’s flight would be canceled and I woke up to a text confirming just that. Although I saw this coming I was disappointed because I was ready to go home (I have things I need to do).
This morning was mayhem, Lisa and Ezgi were able to get flights out on Wednesday but Auntie Cheryl and I aren’t able to get out until Thursday. Mind you, I was stressed to the max as we searched because I have another trip that I’m going on early Friday morning with my mom to Ecuador. That is one of the many reasons as to why I was apprehensive in coming on this trip (I felt it was too close to a previously planned trip). Thursday is the absolute latest I can leave without disrupting my next trip so I’m praying nothing goes wrong with us leaving at that time and an even better miracle would be to leave earlier but I’m not very hopeful given the situation.
Like everyone else I had things planned for the week but right now my main focus is not missing my Ecuador trip. I will now have no time to sleep when I get back, I will immediately have to run home, pack and then go hop on another plane. I’ll have to start thinking now of all the things I’ll need to do given that short time frame so I don’t forget anything important. After finally being able to secure something after breakfast I was mentally exhausted and had to take a nap.
I realized how blessed I am because this is the first time weather has affected my travels. And not to mention, I at least am granted the luxury of staying in the villa for the remaining days here (we all were). If this were my trip, traveling solo and I was caught in the same predicament I can tell you right now I’d be sleeping at the airport (because I wouldn’t have the funds for lodging for the additional days but also my chances of leaving earlier would’ve been greater as a solo traveler). I would also be hounding United every chance I got to get me home ASAP (because they were trying to give us dates for next week). Either way, we’re all dealing with the inconvenience but realize we’re lucky and it could be worse.
During the day we watched different movies and what we were going to have for lunch we ended up having for dinner which was sweet and sour fish with rice and vegetables. Looks like we have Chef Ann for a bit longer. And this is where I’m going to wrap this vacation up (I will not be covering the extra days here). I think Turks and Caicos is a good getaway place but come with some money because it is expensive. East coast U.S. people it’s only about an 3 ½ hour flight and if you love the beach you should go. Now that I’ve been I see no need for me to come back personally. All I want to do now is get home.
