Turks and Caicos wasn’t on my radar or list of places but a lot of places typically aren’t. My aunt told me about the possibility of going sometime in August earlier this year and by then I already had my trip to Ecuador booked from Black Friday last year for August of this year so as long as it didn’t interfere I was open. As time got closer, we got exact dates and I agreed to pay for my flight since she was paying for the villa for a group of four of us. Looking at flight prices during that time period was expensive to me and with me going to four other countries months before and another one in the same month, I wasn’t sure if financially I’d be able to handle it. After looking over everything and seeing how close it was to my Ecuador trip, I decided to pass on this trip but when I expressed this to my aunt she wasn’t having it. She had a plan and a vision and opted to buy my plane ticket and told me to just bring money for the food and tips for the house chef and house manager. This seemed like a good deal to pass up on now so I agreed. It would be me, her, one of her friends Lisa and her young pilates adopted niece from Turkey Ezgi.
The villa that we stayed at is a part of North Beach Enclave located on Providenciales. My aunt’s friend Tom had this villa built and we were excited he let us rent it out. The flight there was short (a little over 3 hours) with United (direct) and luckily I was upgraded next to my aunt (seated right behind first class). I was in and out of sleep on the flight. We met a woman on board Betty who was practically a younger married version of my aunt jet-setting around the world with her friends.
Once we arrived, we were picked up at the airport and we stopped by a local shop to get some alcohol and a pharmacy. As we arrived to the villa it was secluded and gated and we were greeted by the house manager Delroy. He had a welcome drink for us and told us where the rooms were. Three of the rooms were upstairs in the main house and one room was outside halfway down the steps to the beach. I knew that lone room needed to be for me and since it wasn’t the master room I called dibs. No one had an issue with it so that became my room. My sleep schedule is all over the place, I stay up late and get up early so it made sense to me.
I eagerly went to go scope my room for the next few days and it was beautiful. A huge window wall overlooking the beach below and my own bathroom attached to the bedroom, truly villa like in every way. Further up outside the house is a grilling area with a small infinity pool and beach/lounge chairs with a floating/hanging chaise (which I love). Below my bedroom further down before the beach is a lounge sitting area with a fitness center, an area for yoga and beach bar just around the corner from the villa.
We walked down to the beach area and took a look around. There are paddleboards, kayacks, snorkeling material, a pickle ball/tennis court area and basketball court. There’s so much we can get into right here. We took some time to relax before dinner so I changed shoes and rested in the swinging floating chaise. I took a glimpse at everyone’s room all very lovely with their own bathroom as well. For dinner we began walking to a nearby restaurant on another resort as the chef wasn’t expected to arrive until tomorrow. Halfway in our walk we spotted a golf cart and asked for directions. The gentleman then told us to hop on the cart and he took us the rest of the way which we appreciated.
Now I heard Turks and Caicos was expensive and the menu at dinner proved just how expensive it could be (my dish was like $48). I ordered a chicken dish (the chicken was seasoned really well but for a half chicken it seemed small) with vegetables and butternut squash and had a very nice limoncello drink. Ezgi was fascinated with the resort’s cat Rocky that went around from table to table. We enjoyed eating, chatting and planning our days there. Lisa was nice enough to pay for our meal that night. We left and were given another golf cart ride this time to our front gate (which was nice because it was now dark). Everyone decided to turn in for the night and we’ll make use of everything around us tomorrow.
