After going to bed so early in the morning I surprisingly got up around 10:30am thanks to the sound of dogs barking in a busy park outside. The park was full of adults, kids and dogs walking, playing and eating out. The skies looked clearer outside though they’re calling for rain today (actually everyday, we must be in their rainy season). My mom I knew wasn’t going to get up yet because before she went to sleep she said, “I’ll get up when I get up (which means not before noon).” I watched some Netflix and had a taste for coffee so I went downstairs and tried a Vanilla Cappucino from the lobby coffee machine. It was easy to use and came with a little stirrer and for about $3 was a good cup of coffee.
I got back in bed until about 2pm just lounging around. We had decided we’d try to be at the Central Market by 4pm to give us a good two hours to look around. So far it had rained a little off and on and we were just hoping it would hold off for a bit. We caught a Didi to the Central Market which thankfully was enclosed because while there shopping around we could hear the rain pounding on the roof above us. I love markets like the Central Market because I like unique finds and souvenir shopping is kind of my thing.
We went from stall to stall some having similar things while others had something that stands out from the rest. We did our bit of bargaining and maybe half of the stores we looked in we bough something out of. Time went by really fast because before you know it stalls began closing and vendors began wrapping things up as 6pm was approaching. The area both inside and outside was bustling with people walking all over. On our way over in the Didi people were just walking in front of moving cars as if they could stop so quickly with them being so close (it was crazy).
An officer near by helped us with Wifi and we were able to call a Didi to take us back to the Airbnb once we were done. One can easily go astray in the Central Market and that area in general if you like to shop. On our second day here we’re finally beginning to understand colones more as far as the bills and coins are concerned. Back at the Airbnb I got a message from our host tomorrow that they’d have to cancel our cooking class due to a family emergency and they refunded our money. That’s the only activity we had planned tomorrow so we’ll either try finding another cooking class or do something else (that’s still TBD).
Speaking of cooking we were now hungry and wanted to try to find something nearby preferably within walking distance since the rain had stopped and it was fairly nice out now. Upon looking we saw that there was a well rated Indian restaurant only 8 minutes away so we opted for that. The ambiance inside was pretty and the place had some unique fixtures to it. The service and the meal was very good, plentiful and filling (I had a little bit of leftovers). Back at the Airbnb we just chilled and talked by lounging and enjoying the space. Though we are excited to be in a new place and experience new things we also want to make sure that we have time to just rest, relax and do nothing sometimes while enjoying the space in which we’re paying to stay in. That’s all I have for today, looking forward to sharing the rest as we go along…
